Located just 7 kilometers from La Fortuna, our modern airport offers domestic and regional flights, connecting travelers to San José and other destinations throughout Costa Rica and Central America. The airport features a 1,800-meter runway capable of accommodating a variety of aircraft, from small private planes to regional commercial jets.

Our History

1995

Initial Construction

The original facility opened with a 1,200-meter runway serving small aircraft and charter flights.

The first major expansion added a new terminal building and extended the runway to 1,500 meters.

2012

International Status

The airport received certification for limited international operations, allowing direct flights from neighboring countries.

2018

Modernization Project

A comprehensive modernization project included runway extension to 1,800 meters, terminal renovations, and new navigation equipment.

2020

Rebranding Initiative

The facility was officially rebranded as Arenal Airport with a new visual identity and service commitment.

Sustainability Certification
